Joining Sideshow as part of its partnership with Weta Workshop (Sideshow/Weta) was Senior Designer, and New Zealand's own Daniel Falconer, on hand all weekend (January 14-16) to participate in live chats with Sideshow's online faithful and meet with fans who admired both his incredible talents and his warmth. In all sincerity, Falconer was a joy to have around the booth and didn't display even a gram of ego that cynics would expect from a man who was a part of the mammoth success of The Lord of the Rings.

Typical of his genuine humility he said of ORC, "It was an honor to have been invited, considering what a great lineup of talent you had to choose from. I'm so glad I took you up on the offer and had the opportunity to enjoy the show."

He actually emailed me back!!

I sent off an email to Mr. F. when I came across a John Howe site link I had in my bookmarks. I had mentioned this when I saw him at ORC, so I thought I'd send him the link because he hadn't seen it. I also sent him a photo I took. Well, he wrote back. What a nice guy!

thank you for the picture and link. I had a lovely time at ORC. Everyone was so nice and the stories I was lucky enough to hear were often moving. It is thrilling to have been apart of something that has touched so many people so profoundly and inspired so many as well.
Perhaps I'll see you again next year? I hear I might be asked back.
